Rustic Luxury in the Wilderness
Six Mile Estate offers a rare blend of wild Montana beauty and refined classic design, where the rustic spirit of the 1930s lives on in harmony with the land. The cottages—each one distinct—combine cedar and stone exteriors with unexpected Art Deco interiors, a quiet nod to the era’s elegance without overshadowing the natural surroundings.
Arrival is its own quiet experience. There are no straight lines or sharp edges—just gentle footpaths winding through trimmed grass along stands of towering old-growth ponderosa, Douglas fir, and birch, inviting you to wander and meander. You’ll hear the creek before you see it. You’ll smell the woodsmoke before you find its source. Each cottage is tucked into its own corner of the property, offering seclusion without isolation, privacy without pretense.
None of the cottages dominate the shoreline. That’s by design. Instead, they retreat just far enough to allow the lake its full, uninterrupted presence. Trees offer a natural screen. Native grasses soften the transitions. It’s a setting where everything feels intentional but never staged.
Set across 18 acres and 2,200 feet of shoreline, Six Mile remains buffered from the outside world. While the lake has changed—new homes, new neighbors—the estate’s character has only deepened with time. It stands now as it always has–understated, enduring, and entirely its own.
